Kindernay launches VII, a 7-speed hub - PRESS RELEASE

Kindernay Corporation already set the standard for flexible, high-torque internal gear hubs with the Kindernay XIV: 14 speeds with full gear range, broadly compatible with modern bikes with 10/12mm through-axle, an adjusted-for-life HYSEQ gear shift system, and SWAP cage for use of the gear hub on multiple wheelsets.

New products

In 2021, Kindernay is broadening its product range, by offering three new products:
• Kindernay VII, a 1200 gram 7-speed internal gear hub with 160Nm torque capacity
• HYSEQ Onesie, a one-sided trigger shifter for all Kindernay hub gears
• SWAP32 and SWAP36 hub shells with new spoke hole numbers

Patented Technologies

The new Kindernay VII is based on the same patented technologies as the original 14 speed Kindernay XIV, with ultra-compact internals, and offers a wide gear range of 428% over 7 speeds, of even 28% intervals. With 160 Nm input torque capacity, it handles even the most powerful electric motors. Despite this robustness, the raw gear hub weight is just 1200 grams, and the complete system weighs just 1750 grams including shifter and shell.

7 speed OEM version, a wide area of application

Christian Antal, Founder & CEO of Kindernay elaborates: “While the XIV is our niche “Roadster”, the Kindernay VII is made for wider audiences. Based on the same proven and patented Kindernay technologies, the ultra-high torque Carabin clutches, flexible switchable Matchcaps for 135x10, 142x12, and 148x12 through axles, and swappable SWAP wheel cage for rapid wheel changes; the VII is simpler, and it is compatible with the IS 6-bolt disc brakes standard. This makes it the preferred alternative for e-bike OEMs and brands worldwide.”

Shifter

Additionally, Kindernay is launching the HYSEQ Onesie trigger shift operator, a one-sided push-push hydraulic shift operator, which is compatible with all Kindernay hubs.

Antal adds: “The right-handed innovatively designed CNC machined operator provides space for accessories like a dropper post lever on the left handlebar side, and allows for shifting one shift at the time or multiple shifts by pushing the lever further. Operating the hydraulic sequential HYSEQ gear actuator, it provides a clean tactile shift feeling, works with any of the Kindernay hubs, and can be installed on any kind of bike, thanks to the switchable Matchcaps. Kindernay HYSEQ shifters are adjusted for life, they are calibrated in the factory and never require readjustment".

SWAP wheels

Further new offerings are the SWAP32 and SWAP36 hub shells for broader rim and usage choices, and various peripheral components.
“The new SWAP cages allow OEMs to use their most preferred rim options, and match the front wheel with the rear, to simplify their supply chain and strengthen their brands. For the end-user, the SWAP provides ease and convenience to wheel changing and maintenance operations.”
